Endometriosis affects circa 10% of women of reproductive age. Symptoms can result in a significant reduction in quality of life (QoL). Although medical and surgical approaches aim to reduce pain and improve QoL, pain recurs in 19-25% of patients, and 10-58% eventually undergo re-surgery. Adding a personalized physical and psychosocial pain rehabilitation program to usual care is crucial as symptoms and pain vary widely among patients. This approach reflects the growing recognition of the importance of individualized multidisciplinary care in modern endometriosis management and responds to women’s needs for holistic and individualized treatment. We hypothesize that a pain rehabilitation approach
for women suffering from endometriosis-related pain after surgery leads to better and affordable care than usual care as it will improve QoL, functional and work ability, and reduce healthcare costs.
