Title: 'Pessary vs medication as treatment of overactive bladder symp-toms in women with stage II-III prolapse'

Overactive bladder (OAB) with main symptoms urgency, frequency and nocturia with/without urgency incontinence, is an impactful disease. OAB is seen in 13% of adult women. Without therapy it can lead to emotional stress, depression, social isolation and high cost of in-continence material. Drug therapy for OAB is often chronic, gives high costs and side effects are common.

Prevalence of OAB symptoms is greater in patients with a pelvic organ prolapse (POP) than without POP. Different studies show that in these patients, treatment with a pessary (vagi-nal ring) can also treat the OAB symptoms. Therefore, we believe that treatment with a pessary can treat OAB symptoms, without the side effects and high costs of (chronic) medication. By means of a multicentre RCT we want to show that a pessary can treat OAB in patients with OAB and POP more effectively and with less side effects, lower costs and higher patient satisfaction.
