Recently, module 5.2 of the Dutch colorectal cancer (CRC) guideline has been updated. Patients with a 15-25% risk of lymph node metastasis (LNM) will be counselled in a shared decision-making process to choose either active follow-up or completion surgery. Supporting materials (decision aid and informative video's) are available at T1CRC.com/protocol/. CROSSROADS 2 is a national audit designed to monitor the 3- year and 5-year cancer specific survival (CSS), overall survival and disease free survival for these patients. In addition, it aims to evaluate the impact of the treatment strategies on quality of life, the fear of recurrence and costs. The shared decision-making process will also be evaluated with questionnaires for patients and physicians.
