Recently, module 5.2 of the Dutch colorectal cancer (CRC) guideline has been updated to active follow-up as the strategy of first choice for locally resected pT1-T2 colon carcinomas with a risk of 5-15% of lymph node metastasis (LNM). CROSSROADS 1 is a national audit designed to monitor the 3- year and 5-year cancer specific survival (CSS), overall survival and disease free survival for these patients. In addition, it aims to evaluate the impact of the treatment strategies on quality of life, the fear of recurrence and costs.
